The School of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary is the second-level teaching unit of Jinzhou Medical University. It has a history of more than 70 years and be traced back to Xingcheng Agricultural Vocational School in Liaoning Province, which was established in 1949. After several generations of hard work, the school has made outstanding contributions in the fields of talent training, scientific research and social services. There are three undergraduate majors: Animal Medicine, Animal Science, Animal and Plants Quarantine, of which there are two provincial first-class majors. There are four master's degree granted rights: Microbiology, Genetics, Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry, one provincial key laboratory and one provincial science popularization base each.
The school currently has 73 full-time teachers and34 have doctor’s degree, 2 winners of Special Government Allowance from the State Council, 2 Excellent Teachers in Liaoning Province, 2 Outstanding Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Experts in Liaoning Province and 2 Outstanding Talents of Colleges and Universities in Liaoning Province, 1 Outstanding Expert in Liaoning Province and 1 Distinguished Professor in Liaoning Province, and 3 professors have been selected into the Million Talent Project in Liaoning Province. 14 directors of national societies or associations, and 1 member of the editorial board of the China Journal of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine.
Our school has presided over more than 150 scientific research projects of various type sand got nearly 30 million yuan in scientific research funds, won 2 first prizes, 1 second prize and 3 third prizes for scientific and technological progress of the Liaoning Provincial Government, 7 first prizes and 2 second prizes for contributions to animal husbandry science and technology. The school has 34 patents authorized and more than 600 papers published. It presided over 16 provincial and ministerial teaching and research projects, won 4 teaching achievement awards in Liaoning Province, and 1 provincial teaching team. Won one special prize and two second prizes in the National College Student Skills Competition; won the Liaoning Golden Award and 1 National Bronze Award in the "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; won 15 awards in the Liaoning "Challenge Cup" College Student Extracurricular Science and Technology Works Competition and 10 awards in the "Challenge Cup" College Student Entrepreneurship Plan. The employment rate of graduates is more than 95%. Since 2010, the school has undertaken the training task of farmer technicians in the science and technology mission operation in Liaoning Province, training more than 1, 800 students. It carries out science popularization publicity activities every year, which has won the title of advanced collective title of science and technology special operations in Liaoning Province.
