The nursing major of our school started earlier and developed rapidly. Its original name, the Department of Nursing, was established in 1999 and the department was renamed as the School of Nursing in 2003. After 23 years of hard work of seven deans and all faculty, the School of Nursing has become one of the important second-level teaching units of JZMU.
At present, the school has 25 full-time teachers and 132 part-time teachers. It has formed a 100% double-ability teachers team with stable personnel, reasonable structure, strong sense of responsibility and high professional level. Among the teachers, there is 1 expert who is entitled to the special allowance of the State Council; 1 vice chairman of the Nursing Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education; 12 members of national societies and academic organizations and 23 members at the provincial level; and 1 famous teacher at the provincial level.
The major of nursing is granted the right to award an academic and professional degree for the master of nursing with the first-level discipline of nursing.
The school adheres to the quality of talent training as the foundation of education. The basic curriculum reform of "Organ system centered" has won the second prize of national teaching achievements. At present, it is an undergraduate characteristic major in Liaoning Province. There is a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, and nursing is a provincial comprehensive reform project. Pilot majors, provincial key specialties in clinical nursing, the first place in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate nursing majors in provincial ordinary colleges and universities, the first-class undergraduate education demonstration majors in nursing in provincial colleges and universities, provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching center, national nursing science popularization education base, and the first batch of national first-class professional construction sites. Passed the nursing professional certification of the Ministry of Education.
In the National Undergraduate Nursing College Teachers' Clinical Skills Competition, the teachers of the school of nursing won the first prize of the group and individual special prize, first prize and third prize. Geriatric Nursing was approved as an online open course for the universities of China. In the nursing track of the 10th College Students' Medical Technology Skills Competition, the school won the first prize, "Four step palpation and auscultation of fetal heart Individual Award, the school won the Silver Award in the National Finals, which is the only winner of the northeast part of China.
Till now, a total of 20 batches nursing students already graduated, some part-time teachers and graduates of the school have been trained to help Wuhan against the COVID-19 epidemic, and won the honorary titles of outstanding nursing workers of the Chinese Medical Association, advanced individuals in the prevention and control of COVID-19 in the national health system, angels in the hearts of the people of Liaoning Province and outstanding teachers in Liaoning Province.
