Founded in 1946, The First Clinical Medical School (The First Affiliated Hospital) is one of the three major regional medical centers in Liaoning Province. It is the only provincial emergency medical rescue center in western parts of Liaoning, the only advanced stroke center in Liaoning, and the provincial chest pain center, the only provincial critical maternal treatment center in western Liaoning Province, and a hospital with ground-to-air aviation rescue capabilities. It is a provincial comprehensive tertiary first-class university affiliated hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, preventive health care, emergency first aid and public health emergency management.
The spiritual inheritance of military doctor “Keeps Pace with the Times”. The predecessor of the hospital was the 36th base hospital of the Liaoji Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army built in 1946. In 1949, it was relocated to Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. In 1954, it was renamed the First Provincial Hospital of Liaoning Province. In 1958, it was changed to the Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical College. In 1993, it passed the classification standard evaluation of provincial tertiary first-class hospitals. In 2006, it was renamed the First Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning Medical College. In 2016, it was officially renamed The First Affiliated Hospital of JZMU.
The clinical diagnosis and treatment ability has soared. There are 2,800 beds, 111 clinical and medical and technical departments, 2 provincial key disciplines, and 16 provincial key specialties. The hospital has carried out more than 50 new technologies every year, and more than 1,400 cases of multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of difficult diseases. The following awarding were approved by the National Heath Commission: Multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment center for digestive system tumor, National Health Commission，the hospital has been awarded a MDT leading unit in the alliance area by the Chinese Cancer MDT Alliance, the first batch of "standardized pilot units of quality control for lung cancer" has been granted by the National Cancer Center. The hospital has been establishing a chest pain center, a stroke center, a trauma center, a critical care center for maternity and a critical care center for children and newborn. The ranking of clinical medicine ESI in the world's top 1% has steadily improved, and our hospital's allergy ranked 13th and 14th in the list of major disciplines of scientific and technological influence in Chinese hospitals in 2016 and 2017. At present, there are four provincial key laboratories, one provincial engineering research center, two provincial clinical medical research centers, and one major science and technology platform for colleges and universities in Liaoning Province, and the first standard clinical biological sample center in western Liaoning has been completed.
