Affiliated Animal Hospital is a second-level teaching unit of Jinzhou Medical University. It was formerly known as the Veterinary Hospital Affiliated to Jinzhou Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School in Liaoning Province. In 2002, it was renamed the Affiliated Veterinary Hospital of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary College of Liaoning Medical College. In 2014, it was established as a department-level hospital and renamed the Affiliated Animal Hospital to Liaoning Medical College. In 2015, with a huge amount of funding in the renovation and expansion of the hospital, and in March 2016, it was renamed the Affiliated Animal Hospital to JZMU. The hospital has two administrative departments: the office and the finance department; the clinical veterinary medicine teaching and research office and the veterinary clinical skills comprehensive training center.
The hospital currently has 22 faculty and staff, including 7 administrators, 10 professional teachers, 5 nurses and others. Among the full-time teachers, there are 1 professor, 5 associate professors, 4 lecturers,6 with doctoral degree (learning for degree included), and 5 national vocational skills appraisal assessors.
The clinical veterinary science teaching and research office offers 10 compulsory courses. There are 2 first-class courses at the university level, 1 project in education science planning in Liaoning Province, a first prize and a third prize for university-level teaching achievements, and 1 excellent award in the Jinzhou Young Teacher Teaching Competition. There are two research directions of veterinary clinical molecular diagnosis, traditional Chinese veterinary medicine and traditional Chinese medicine immunity. In recent years, it has won three provincial and ministerial scientific research projects with a horizontal project funding of 150,000 yuan; a third prize for provincial scientific and technological progress and two patents for utility model inventions.
The hospital makes full use of the advantages and resource conditions of clinical veterinary science to serve the animal husbandry industry in western Liaoning. It mainly carries out diagnosis and treatment of pet diseases, antibody detection and immunization procedures for important infectious diseases, and parasites, disease detection and deworming procedures, livestock and poultry disease detection and purification projects.
