The postgraduate education of Jinzhou Medical University started in 1979. It first jointly trained master's students with China Medical University. In 1984, it became one of the second batch of colleges and universities in China to have the right to award master's degrees. In 1999, it was qualified to apply for master's degrees for the personnel with equivalent academic qualifications. In 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it began to jointly train doctoral students with China Medical University. Over the past 30 years, with the strong support of leaders and the leadership of the university's party committee, and with the support and cooperation of various departments of the JZMU, through the hard work of all postgraduate supervisors and postgraduate management staff, JZMU's postgraduate education has made great progress, the scale of education has gradually expanded, and the level of education has continuously improved.
There are 8 first-level master's degree authorization majors；basic medicine, clinical medicine, stomatology, pharmacy, public health and preventive medicine, nursing, biology and food science and engineering; 58 master's degree authorization points in second-level disciplines; and 5 degree awarding majors in clinical medicine, pharmacy, nursing, veterinary medicine and agriculture; There are 4 jointed doctoral degree majors. Taking the medicine as a dominant discipline system, and focusing on the coordinated development of science, engineering, law, philosophy and agriculture in various fields of medicine. At present, there are more than 2,600 graduate students, more than 1,600postgraduate supervisors and 29 doctoral ones.
In terms of enrollment, the scale of national postgraduate enrollment of JZMU has expanded year by year. In 2020, under the background of the Ministry of Education's policy of significantly increasing the master's enrollment plan and tilting towards serving the national strategy and the areas urgently needed for social and people's livelihood, it is finally proposed to admit 1,000 students, an increase of 169 comparing to the year of 2019, and the increasing rate is 20%. Among them, there are 332 academic degrees, an increase of 49 comparing to the year of 2019, an increasing rate is 17%; 668 students are professional degrees with an increase of 120 students comparing to the year of 2019, the increasing rate reached to 22%. Under the urgent need for personnel with equivalent academic qualifications intend to improve their academic qualifications, the enrollment scale has increased steadily, and the quality of students has improved year by year. A total of 588 students have been enrolled in 2019.
In terms of bases construction, there are three directly affiliated hospitals, including the First Affiliated Hospital of JZMU, the Second Affiliated Hospital and the Third Affiliated Hospital; There are more than 30 off campus postgraduate training bases for master's degrees in clinical medicine, The Northern Theater General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the 930 Hospital of the Joint Logistics Support Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and the Linyi People's Hospital; There are some off-campus academic postgraduate training bases; the Third Medical Center of the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the Fourth Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, the Rocket Army General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, the Fengxian District Central Hospital of Shanghai, Shanghai Oriental Hospital, the South China Institute of Science of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, etc. There are many off-campus academic postgraduate training bases for non-clinical medicine; there are Dalian Runsheng Kangtai Medical Laboratory Co., Ltd., Dalian Sanyi Animal Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Liaoning Yikang Biological Co., Ltd., ect.
The postgraduate training of JZMU adheres to the concept of teaching and educating people, pays attention to the ideological and moral cultivation and individual ability of graduate students, and earnestly strengthens the construction of the tutor team and the leading role of tutors in postgraduate training. Among the mentors, there are 2 special professors of the "Yangtze River Scholar Award Program", 1 winner of the National Famous Teacher Award, 1 national candidate of the Million Talent Project in the New Century, 3 outstanding experts in Liaoning Province, 4 selected in the "Liaoning Universities Climbing Scholar Support Program", and 14 special professors in Liaoning Province. There are 2 core teachers in the youth discipline and 43 candidates for the Million Talent Project in Liaoning Province. At present, there are 13 key laboratories in Liaoning Province, 2 major science and technology platforms in colleges and universities, 2 professional technology innovation centers, 1 engineering research center, and 2 clinical medicine research centers. There are 8 key disciplines in Liaoning Province.

With the gradual improvement of the quality of postgraduate training, the overall quality of graduates is also improving. Although the employment situation is different every year and the employment pressure of graduates increases year by year, the graduates of our school still maintain good employment prospects.
