Delegation from Borno State Scholarship Committee of Nigeria Visited JZMU

On May 18th, the delegation from the Borno State Schlarship Committee of Nigeria visited JZMU. Vice-president Sun Hongzhi, heads of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center, the College of International Education, and the Cancer Ward of the First Affiliated Hospital attended the exchange meeting. The exchange meeting was chaired by Zhu Xiaomei, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center.

Sun Hongzhi welcomed the delegation on behalf of the university. He stated that the delegation’s visit provides an opportunity for us to understand Nigerian education and needs, as well as a valuable opportunity to attract more Nigerian students to further their education and receive high-level medical education at Jinzhou Medical University.

Dr. Babagana Malambe Mustapha, the head of the delegation and Commissioner for Budget and Planning of Borno State, stated that the government of Borno State had been valued to the development of education and healthcare, and hoped to cultivate high-quality medical talents and improved the local medical service level through cooperation with Jinzhou Medical University by introducing advanced medical education concepts and technologies.

Both parties reached multiple cooperation intentions, including joint training of medical talents, joint development of medical research projects, and clinical training of doctors and nurses in the exchange and discussion session.

After the meeting, the delegation listened to the introduction of the tumor center, clinical trials, and new drug development by the doctors of the Cancer Ward of the First Affiliated Hospital, and visited the relevant facilities. They praised the hospital’s advanced medical equipment and professional medical team, and admired China’s rapid development in the medical field.

The delegation also visited the library, laboratories, and international student dormitories, and had discussions with Nigerian international students. Students shared their learning experiences and growth stories, and received the encouragement to become excellent doctors form the delegation.

The visit marks a solid step forward in the cooperation between JZMU and the Borno State of Nigeria in the fields of education and medicine. Both parties stated that in the future they would have in-depth discussions on projects with cooperative intentions and jointly promote exchanges and development in medical education and medical services between the two countries.
