Professor Duan Zhiguang Delieved an Academic Lecture at JZMU

On June 28th, Professor Duan Zhiguang, former president of Shanxi Medical University and director of the Medical Health and Humanities Research Center at the key research base for humanities and social sciences for colleges and universities in Shanxi, delivered an academic lecture at our university. Faculty and students shared the academic feast through a combination of online and offline methods. Fan Zhongkai, Director of the office of Science and Technology presided over the lecture.

Professor Duan Zhiguang introduced the development of medical humanities education as well as the diversity and limitations of the concept of health humanities under the topic of “The Enlightenment of the Transformation of Medical Health Humanities Paradigm on the Development of Nursing”. Professor Duan Zhiguang elaborated on the influencing factors of the transformation of the medical health humanities paradigm on the development of nursing science after nursing became a A-level discipline. He further explored the potential value and challenges faced by nursing discipline and emphasized that the process of nursing humanities education reform was the process of expanding the perspective of nursing humanities education and meanwhile, the acceleration and deepening of this process required the driving force of nursing humanities education research.

The lecture provided theoretical guidance and ideological inspiration in curriculum construction, discipline development, and academic research for our university and benefited a lot for the attending teachers and students. In the communication and interaction section, teachers and students had in-depth exchanges and discussions with Professor Duan Zhiguang regarding the specific implementation path and research methods of nursing humanistic cultivation.
